Artist Statement
My work explores the space between abstraction and realism through layered oil painting. I’m interested in how transparency and opacity can shape a composition, allowing forms to emerge, shift, and dissolve.
I often balance loose, gestural passages with areas of careful detail, creating a tension between control and spontaneity. Much of my inspiration comes from candid family photographs, as well as historical and literary references, which I reinterpret to build new narratives within each piece.
Painting is an ongoing process of experimentation for me. Each work becomes an opportunity to explore composition, refine technique, and respond to the evolving image as it develops.
